Healthy Weight Loss

Many people know that if you want a long life span and a body that is strong, eating healthy is of all importance. The power to resist infection and sickness is made simpler when you are healthy internally. However, so often we are not able to commit to a nutrition plan or setting goals around nutritious eating. You are helped when you take hold of the realization that along with healthy choices, are tips and plans apart from what you put in your mouth. Attitudes and behaviour carry weight in terms of your health.

We all are familiar with what is nutritious, and there is a reason we are familiar with it. Try making daily nutritional choices that include grains, fruits and vegetables. When you desire to eat something in between meals, instead of eating junk, eat nutritiously. Furthermore, you can consume grains that are whole in diverse ways. As an illustration, whole grain breads are widely available in different ways. Cereals, rice and pastas that are made with whole grains are also easily accessible. With the diverse selections out there, it won’t be hard to discover a food you love. The general public ingest a tiny bit on account of loving what they are tasting. A great attribute of our lifestyle is food.

However, if you understand certain foods are not the best to consume, simply don’t eat them as often. There is not a cardinal rule that says you have to throw out every food that doesn’t provide nutrients. The easiest approach is to look at where you get the greatest amount of sugars, salts and unhealthy fats in your diet. Deciding how you could minimize the amount you consume would be next. It is a suggestion that is simple and won’t hurt too badly.

Some people prefer a very traditional view of eating a natural and wholesome diet. This natural foods school uses a single factor to decide whether or not a certain food is worthy of consumption. If you want to follow this way of thought, you have to exclude any foods that weren’t around in the 19th century. As long as you avoid these newer, processed foods, you could still invent new recipes, of course.

Staying away from artificial and processed items our diets would become much more natural. If you follow this advice, you’re also supposed to avoid all but three areas of the supermarket. You can, if you adhere to this, shop only for dairy, produce and meat and stay away from everything else.

Nowadays, it’s easy to find useful advice on health and nutrition online. So a lack of knowledge is really not a good excuse in this case. Don’t make these topics harder than they need to be, as it’s mainly a matter of applying the right principles consistently. Losing weight can be a challenge at first, but once you find some success, make sure that you maintain your momentum so you don’t gain it back.

Reduce Arthritis Inflammation Naturally

New research has shown for the first time that omega-3 in fish oil (DHA/EPA) could substantially and significantly reduce the signs and symptoms of osteoarthritis.

“There was strong evidence that omega-3 influences the biochemistry of the disease, and therefore not only helps prevent disease, but also slows its progression, potentially controlling established osteoarthritis,”

said lead researcher Dr John Tarlton.

The research was conducted in a strain of guinea pigs that naturally develop osteoarthritis and compared to controls. Fish oil intake reduced the pathology of tissue damage associated with osteoarthritis towards those without the problem. Medical research director of Arthritis Research UK, Professor Alan Silman, said:

“The possibility that omega-3 fatty acids could prevent osteoarthritis from developing has been a tantalising one. Some limited, previous research in dogs has suggested that we were a long way away from understanding the potential use in humans. However, this current research in guinea pigs is exciting as it brings us closer to understanding how omega-3 might fundamentally interfere with the osteoarthritis process, and that it could potentially be taken as a treatment.”

The ability to recover from inflammation is required to keep up with wear and tear and prevent for every body structure. This study shows just how important these nutrients are to long term joint health.

Reduce Inflammation Naturally

Inflammations role in major diseases went undetected for a long time. But now, chronic inflammation is being blamed for a number of well-known illnesses, such as arthritis, Alzheimer’s, diabetes, heart disease, stroke, depression and even cancer. But what is the connection between inflammation and these seemingly unrelated illnesses?

In truth, inflammation is not always bad. Our bodies use this natural reaction to help fight germs and heal wounds. In most cases, inflammation takes care of an injury and then recedes. However, problems arise when inflammation stays in the “on” mode.

For years we have known that inflammation plays a role in rheumatoid arthritis, asthma, certain bowel diseases and the like. But over the last decade, medical leaders have found the impact of persistent inflammation on the body to be much more widespread. This has changed the way we look at how heart attacks, strokes and diabetes are caused. It also provides new opportunities for predicting, preventing, and even treating diseases.

There are a number of factors that trigger chronic inflammation. Thankfully, many of them can be reduced through some simple lifestyle changes.

  • Fat – Once thought to be storage units for energy, we now understand that fat cells pump out cytokines that fan the inflammatory process. Because of this reaction, excess fat – specifically belly fat – is now thought to be the link between obesity and Type 2 diabetes.
  • High-fat, High-calorie meals – This can often be avoided by laying off fast food and other unhealthy meals.
  • Emotional Stress – In response to stress, the body produces hormones such as cortisol and adrenaline, which lead to inflammation.

While anti-inflammatory medications are available and often helpful, they each come with their own set of risks and side effects. So how can we reduce inflammation naturally? The answer may seem like a typical list of remedies, and while they do require a certain level of willpower, they are productive in affecting change for the better.

Diet – Anti-inflammatory foods include colourful fruits and vegetables such as broccoli, cabbage, Brussels sprouts, kale and cauliflower. Also needed are healthy fats which we can access through legumes, nuts, olive oil and fish. Avoid processed foods, junk foods, and Trans fats.

Activity – After exercise the body generates more free radicals. In response, it then makes and uses more antioxidants, which ultimately work to reduce inflammation. Losing weight also provides the added benefit of fat loss.

Stress Management – The hormones that result from stress contribute to the burning sensation associated with inflammation and also contribute to belly fat. Try to take part in stress-reducing activities on a regular basis (e.g. recreation, reading, deep breathing). Getting adequate sleep will also go a long way in reducing stress.

Athritis Awareness Month

Original Article @ David Ogdens Blog

Reduce Arthritis Inflammation Naturally

Arthritis is a very painful condition in which one or more of a person’s joints are inflamed. This campaign is to educate people on facts and prevention of the condition.

Affecting more than 50 million Americans, arthritis is the leading cause of disability in the United States. The condition is used to describe more than 100 diseases which affect a person’s joints, the area where two bones meet.

Arthritis is the result of a breakdown of cartilage. Joints are typically protected by cartilage, which allow them to move easily. Without an efficient amount of cartilage, the bones rub together causing severe discomfort, swelling, and stiffness.

There are two major types of arthritis. The first is Osteoarthritis, where the joint cartilage breaks down and causes pain and stiffness. The second type, Rheumatoid arthritis, is more severe and is a condition in which the body’s immune system attacks the membrane surrounding the joints, and can lead to joint destruction.

There are many different causes of arthritis; however, there are no known cures for it. The Arthritis Foundation is a non-profit organization working towards finding a cure through education and research.

Although there are no known cures, there are many types of treatment to help reduce pain, improve joint function, and prevent further damage. The types of treatment include exercise programs, such as muscle toning and aerobic activity. Along with this, physical therapy may be recommended. Heating or icing the area, support joints or splints, and massages are proven to help reduce inflammation and pain.
This month is Arthritis Awareness Month in the USA, so make sure you get plenty of sleep each night, at least 8 to 10 hours. You should also stay active, make sure you include plenty of fruits and vegetables in your diet, and participate in stress-reducing activities such as yoga, massage or meditation.

How to reduce Inflammation Naturally

Reduce Inflammation Naturally

Though inflammation medications are widely available, they each come with their own set of risks and potential side effects. so how can we help reduce inflammation naturally? the answer is simple though implementing it can take willpower and determination : lifestyle changes.

thought they might sound a familiar litany of “remedies”, a balanced nutritious diet, exercise and stress reduction can go a long way to reducing inflammation in the body.

  • Anti-inflammatory diet – just as certain chemicals are pro- or anti-inflammatory so too are certain foods you need to load up on anti-inflammatory foods like colourful fruits and vegetables, particularly cruciferous vegetables such as broccoli, cabbage, Brussels sprouts, kale and cauliflower. research gas shown that compounds in these vegetables reduce the production of inflammatory cytokines. Also include legumes, nuts, healthy fats such as olive oil, and fish in your diet. the Omega-3 fatty acids in cold water fish such as salmon, mackerel and sardines provide the building blocks it needs to make anti-inflammatory hormones. whole grains should also be a staple in your diet: a study of overweight people found that those that ate whole grains versus refined grains such as white bread, pasta and rice, reduced their blood counts of C-Reactive protein (a marker for inflammation by 30%

Spices such as curry and ginger have anti-inflammatory properties as do green ,white and oolong varieties of tea. avoid processed and junk foods, saturated fats and Trans fat all of which can be pro-inflammatory.

  • Activity – the benefits of exercise have been well documented and now include reducing inflammation. After you exercise your body creates more free radicals. then your body makes and uses more anti-oxidants which ultimately work to reduce inflammation. Plus fat cells are inflammation-making -machines, so losing weight an reduce this source of inflammation.
  • Try to get at least 30 minutes of exercise most days of the week, however do not over do it as exercise regimes of more than 30 minutes can be pro-inflammatory.
  • Stress Management – Stress hormones contribute to the “fire” of inflammation and can increase your belly fat (see yesterdays post). Practice stress reduction techniques such as deep breathing, meditation, yoga and massage to bring the stress under control. Exercise is in fact a great stress buster. also be sure to get plenty of sleep each night as lack of sleep can stress the body.

Keywords and Search Results for Your Business

Original Article @ Veretekk Internet Marketing Business

Marketing Your Business
Keywords and Search Results

I was in the Warriors forum today and someone was proudly boasting he had his site at no one in Google for his local cleaning company. but he complained his description was rubbish.

The reason being he had forgotten to add metatags to his site. Without metatags Google does not know what you want to display. you must remember to spend a little time setting up metatags on any site where you have access.

Google and other search engines are always seeking to present the results you are searching for, which is great however you need to ensure that when you are researching keywords or looking to find on what page your site appears to log out of application such as Google+.

For many years I have had a top ranking site for Lose Weight USA usually in the top 3 out of 80M but if I am logged into Google+ I have positions 2,3,4 and I also show as position 10 for weight loss with 210M results…great for the ego but not for business.

Matters can be further complicated by using local searches say for the Philippines where of course by site would not appear in results.

Another useful tool to use when researching keywords is Google Trends, which follow news items in this case you can clearly seen that items about weight loss are growing in popularity

Not shown here are the links to the news items concerned, which one can follow in order to create extra content for your daily posts.

Negative, Competative social Interactions Linked to Inflammation

Original Article @ David Ogdens Blog

Inflammation

Researchers at the David Geffen School of medicine at UCLA have discovered that negative and competitive social interactions increased pro-inflammatory proteins in the body.

The study of 122 healthy young adults who kept a journal of all positive, negative and competitive social interactions for eight days. the participants were then brought in for stressful 25 minute tests, where they did maths problems in their heads and gave speeches in front of strangers. Scientists took check swabs samples before the test , and 25 and 80 minutes after the test. they found that those with negative interactions during the week had high inflammatory protein levels both before and after the stressful mental test.

Interestingly, the negative interactions produced a different pro-inflammatory protein than competitive interactions.

Life In the Philippines

Life in the Philippines
Wedding in the Philippines

This week I was invited to attend a wedding Philippines style, it all started with a call from a friend of mine who operates a beach resort in Sindangan. an English friend of his was getting married to a local girl and need a best man, so I agreed and Jasmin was invited as head Bridesmaid.

The wedding was set to take place on Friday morning so we travelled to the resort a day before. As we arrived the heavens opened and we suffered a tropical storm which lasted some 12 hours. We met the couple and Jasmin and my friends wife went of to get measured for a dress, arriving back some four hours later soaked to the skin. In the meantime I dropped the Bride and Groom off at a pension house in town, with plans to meet a 0800 the following morning at the church.

It was obvious in the morning that Philippine time lag was to come into play as we left the Resort at 0800 heading for the church, as we passed through the town we diverted to the pension house as the rest of the group had been delayed. I found the groom, to check on arrangements and found a state of disarray with no one knowing about the transportation arrangement or caring about time slipping past. so I made a few suggestion including transporting the ushers in my pickup to the church.

Once at the church I was briefed in my duties of accompanying the groom up the isle and standing by his side the ladies and gent split on each side, however as some had already taken their seats they were on the wrong side. The service was long and drawn out, involving sponsors who appeared to be an integral part of a wedding and it ended with lots of photos being taken in the church. We left before the end in order to get back to the resort to check on the reception arrangements.

When the wedding party arrived there was lots of confusion with groups being split up and not even the the married couple knew what was happening next. But it was a long drawn our affair and we made our apologies before the end in order to travel home.

I would certainly thing twice before attending another wedding

Till the next time

Cactus Juice – Pain and Inflammation Relief

Controlling pain and inflammation

Once considered a “secret” killer because its role in major disease went undetected, persistent inflammation is increasingly being blamed for a host of illnesses, including arthritis, Alzheimer’s, diabetes, heart disease, stroke, depression and even cancer.

Not all inflammation is bad, however. We need inflammation to help fight germs and heal wounds. Most times, inflammation takes care of an injury and recedes. But when inflammation gets stuck in the “on” mode, trouble can follow.

Medical leaders have known for years that inflammation naturally plays a key role in inflammatory ills like rheumatoid arthritis, asthma, multiple sclerosis and inflammatory bowel diseases. But over the past decade or so, they’ve found that impact of chronic inflammation on the body is widespread.

As evidence builds about the role of inflammation in other, seemingly unrelated diseases, Harvard Cardiologist Paul Ridker, M.D., Ph.D., calls the development

“a fundamental revolution in how we understand what causes heart attacks, strokes and diabetes.”

He also says it opens up new ways to predict, prevent and even treat diseases.

So what can cause this killer inflammation – and more importantly, how can we stop or reduce it?

Chronic inflammation has many triggers; luckily, we can modify our lifestyles to reduce and even eliminate some of them.

Fat – No one likes to see it in the mirror, but it’s more than a cosmetic problem. Once suspected to be storage units of energy, fat cells are now known to churn out proteins called cytokines which fan the inflammatory process. Excess belly fat in particular can be a huge source of inflammation.

Experts believe this may explain the link between obesity and Type 2 diabetes. Obesity produces inflammation, and inflammation promotes insulin resistance, a hallmark of diabetes and metabolic syndrome (a group of symptoms which can increase the risk of diabetes, heart disease and stroke).

High-fat and high-calorie meals – Fast food and other unhealthy fare can be triggers for inflammation. Researchers from the University at Buffalo, State University of New York found that after a 900-calorie fast-food breakfast, study participants showed high blood levels of inflammation for the next four hours.

Emotional stress – Hormones produced as part of the stress response – such as cortisol and adrenaline – can lead to inflammation. Plus, cortisol can lead to belly fat, which produces inflammation of its own.

Though anti-inflammatory medications are widely available, they each come with their own set of risks and potential side effects. So how can we help reduce inflammation naturally? The answer is simple, though implementing it can take willpower and determination: lifestyle changes.

Controling Lupus Pain and Inflammation

Original Article @ David Ogdens Blog

Nopalea Cactus Juice
Controlling pain and inflammation

More than 90 percent of people with lupus will experience joint and/or muscle pain that can be disabling. Lupus causes inflammation in the synovial tissues inside joints of fingers, wrists, feet, ankles and knees. As a result of this inflammation, non-erosive arthritis can develop that causes pain, stiffness and swollen joints. Decades before my lupus was diagnosed, arthritis was one of the first symptoms of my lupus that appeared as early as my kindergarten years, and recurred all through high school, college and early adult life.

Medications, both over-the-counter and prescription drugs, are used to used to control the pain and inflammation associated with lupus. Medications for inflammation include non-narcotic analgesics/anti-inflammatory medications such as aspirin, ibuprofen, naprosyn, sulindac, and non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs). Pain medications range from simple aspirin or acetaminophen to strong narcotics used for the most severe lupus pain. Persistent or severe inflammation at times requires the use of steroid medications to reduce swelling in involved joint tissues.

The Lupus Foundation of America provides the following information on NSAID medications used to treat painful inflammation.

Pain and inflammation are common in people with systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE). Sometimes these symptoms indicate serious organ involvement which may require powerful anti-inflammatory and immunosuppressive drugs, such as steroids (cortisone, prednisone).

At other times the inflammation is not as severe or does not affect major organs, and a less potent drug is indicated. In these cases, other milder anti-inflammatory and analgesic drugs can be used, especially a group of drugs called the non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs).

While NSAIDs are not approved specifically for SLE by the Food and Drug Administration, they are approved for use in many musculoskeletal pain conditions such as arthritis and tendinitis, which also afflict people with lupus.

Other approaches to dealing with pain may include various therapies such as applying heat, gentle exercise to stimulate pain-relieving nature endorphins, prayer, meditation, bio-feedback and other non-chemical alternative approaches to pain management.
